The Operations Event Set-Up Team is responsible for helping transform the Texas Food Championship from an empty venue into a world-class event by assisting with site preparation, event infrastructure, equipment placement, signage installation, furniture setup, competition areas, and venue organization.

This team plays a vital role in bringing the championship to life while working alongside event leadership, vendors, and production partners to ensure every area is prepared for opening day. Team members should be prepared for a variety of hands-on tasks and perform additional duties as assigned to support the successful setup of the Texas Food Championship.

Lunch will be provided mid-day for all helpers making set up a success.

The EMT-Medical volunteers should have a specialized background, training or credentials to support any medical needs by runners or participants during the race.

This position will lead out the runners out and sweep the course.

The Race Lead Bike should have access to a personal bike and safety gear.

Assist with activities in the Kids' Corner, including, but not limited to, ensuring trash from the crafts area is being put into appropriate trash bins, assisting youth visitors with their crafts or activities, monitoring the carnival games, handing out prizes, and running water to the Kids' Corner partners, and more. This volunteer position consists of greeting festival goers at the entrance points and making sure no one is walking in with coolers or outside alcoholic Beverages. You will check in for your volunteer shift at K Space Contemporary. Help bring back decorations to K Space, folding chairs and tables, and retrieving them from the food court, helping pack up bars after the festival closes.

Diverting these items from our landfill will help reuse our community resources effectively and promote a sustainable culture in our city. Volunteers are needed to help encourage sustainable thinking by festival goers by reminding them to recycle their appropriate waste items while in attendance. The event is outdoor so please expect warm weather and walking/standing for the volunteer shift.

Did you know the sale of your donated items goes directly to fund FREE job training and job placement services to people with disabilities, Veterans, and other individuals with barriers to employment?  - - -When you collect donations, you are also positively impacting the environment by diverting waste from landfills. Go you! We need your help to spread this mission and collect donations so, together, we can help more people here in South Texas get to work!

Each large kitchen trash bag or medium to large box of donations = 2 service hours. The more you donate, the more hours we award you. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. We work with your school or organization to make sure we certify your service hours according to their policies.

Awarding hours: Your certified service hours sheets are available on-site at drop off events and/or uploaded to your myMissionMultiplier portal, accessible to you at any time.

The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is looking for passionate volunteers to help make our 2026 walk event our best yet!

We are seeking:

Pet Therapy Volunteers offer meaningful support by providing companion visits to patients in their homes or care facilities. These visits bring comfort and emotional relief through the calming presence of certified therapy animals.

Volunteers and their animals help reduce anxiety, depression, pain, and loneliness, offering compassionate connection and companionship during a vulnerable time in a patient’s life. This role is ideal for individuals with certified therapy pets who are looking to make a difference in the lives of others through gentle, healing presence.

All visits are coordinated with the hospice team and tailored to the patient’s needs and preferences.

Music Therapy Volunteers provide soothing companionship through the healing power of music. Volunteers visit patients in their homes or care facilities, offering live music, recorded music with vocals or instruments to bring comfort, peace, and emotional support during end-of-life care.

Music can help ease pain, reduce anxiety and depression, and create moments of joy, reflection, and connection for patients and their loved ones.

All visits are scheduled with the hospice team and tailored to meet each patient’s unique needs and preferences.

Hospice volunteers should have a compassionate and kind attitude toward their patients. They should strive to provide comfort and support for both the patient and their family members. They should be reliable, punctual, and prepared for the tasks assigned to them. Good communication skills are essential in this role. Hospice volunteers should have a good understanding of hospice services, as well as, the hospice philosophy of care, taught during training.
